Reviews for The Apple

The Apple: Early Feedback From Advance Reader Copies

“I visited the Book Expo of America, May 30, 2009. You handed me your book, APPLE. You autographed and signed it “to Harris.” I read it and my wife read it. We both thank you. This is the most descriptive account from an individual who experienced the Holocaust that I have encountered.” It is unfortunate that the inclusion of the APPLE segment was taken by some as negative. I can only imagine that I could not have survived the horror inflicted by the Nazis. A mind needs hope to survive. An apple is a perfect metaphor for the nutrition of the continuation of life.”   Harris B, Midwest

“The Apple is very well written and incredibly touching. It kept me up way past my bedtime. It is easy to understand the reaction of other survivors to Herman’s addition of a Hollywood ending to what is truly horrific story, but is also easy to understand why he did it.”  Dennis M, Los Angeles, CA

“Reading this book was as difficult as you had warned me it would be. My ancestors were Polish. When I was thirteen, I spent a few weeks in Poland at a summer camp for Polish and American children, and we went sightseeing around the country. We took a tour of Auschwitz. I remember how the Polish children cried as they saw the horrific evidence of what many of their relatives had suffered there.  I have been humbled by Mr. Rosenblat’s story. You told it with great dignity and sensitivity. It was an honor to read your book. Ellen, Mass

“A beautiful and haunting book.” Laurie,  Long Island

“Part soulful storytelling, part documentary” Alex, Greece

“Seriously, one of the best books I’ve ever read.” Jill, California

“Heartwrenching.” Val, Boston

“Riveting!”  Phil, Mass

“I read The Apple last Friday night, all of it.  I couldn’t put it down.  What an amazing story!” Vicki, Ohio
